What counts as "specified work" for the 88 days?
Plant & animal cultivation (farming, fruit picking, packing, livestock, dairy), fishing & pearling, tree farming/felling, mining, construction (including trades), or bushfire/flood/natural-disaster recovery — performed in a designated regional or remote postcode.
Who can apply for the second-year visa?
Working Holiday Visa holders (subclass 417 or 462) who have completed 88 days (3 months) of specified work during their first year, in eligible regional areas.
Which regions qualify?
Most of QLD, WA, NT, TAS, SA, plus all of "Northern Australia", and many regional postcodes in NSW and VIC. Major city CBDs (Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, Adelaide) do not qualify.
How do I prove my 88 days?
Employers fill the official "Form 1263" (or sign payslips that include their ABN, address, postcode and dates). Always confirm eligibility before starting — not all "farm" or "construction" employers are registered for the scheme.
